OnePlus 6 review: Design and build

On seeing the OnePlus 6 for the first time, you find this device with a good glass body. Anyway, till now we were using such phones which were offered with glass-back or glass finish. Still moving forward, we have come out ahead of Samsung Galaxy S8, which makes us realize the lack of a compact flagship phone.

But after using the device for almost a day, we have started to like this device very much and the design of the phone is quite attractive and great. By the way, OnePlus 6 is similar in size and weight to OnePlus 5T but looks attractive.

OnePlus 6 is very comfortable to hold and gives you a very premium experience when used. But here the most important thing is whether you want a compact phone or a premium feel.

The matte-finish color options of the phone look good but for now, it is only available in 128GB storage variant. We cannot say much about the Avenger Edition of the device because at the time of launch we have been able to use it for a short time only.

OnePlus says that glass is the only material capable of giving you some different feel.
Despite the glass body, OnePlus 6 still retains the traditional design of OnePlus.
The texture of the phone is quite strong.

With OnePlus 6 you do not have to worry about the phone in a little water splash or light rain. Although there is no water-resistant certification here, we ran the phone in the water and we did not see any damage.

Matte Finish Color Options - Midnight Black and Slick White look quite attractive. It looks like metal and gives the feel of marble. Mirror black version of the phone seems much better than that.
The quality of the case cover provided with the phone is also very good. It is slightly raised from the edges, which gives good protection to the phone's display.

The quality of the pre-installed screen protector given on the phone is also very good. Oleophobic coating is also provided on the screen protector.
Alert slider has been given on the right edge of the phone, which makes it easy to use and more useful.

The size of the phone looks good from all sides but it also has a limit, yet the idea of giving us a compact size of the company is quite comical. We sincerely hope that the company will give such a compact design next year without cutting the battery.

OnePlus 6 review: display

In OnePlus 6 you get an FHD + AMOLED screen, which is uniquely the feature of choosing one of the given sRGB and DCI-P3 color profiles. Initially, we realized that FHD + resolution is not enough for the 6.3-inch AMOLED screen but the display sharpness is good to see.

Apart from the features of AMOLED display (darker black color, more contrast, etc.), you are also given the feature of reading mode and ambient display here.

Oneplus 6 price

We used the OnePlus 6 after the sharper (much better) display of the Samsung Galaxy S8, in which we had no problem and the display felt normal.

And yes, here is the nine-display which we will discuss further.

The FHD resolution seems to fit the 6.3-inch screen size with no problems.
We liked the display quality quite well. The best thing is that there is also a facility to change between color profiles. We personally liked sRGB and DCI-P3.

The ambient display shows you the date-time, notifications, battery percentage, etc. without turning on the screen.
The reading mode given in the phone is also much better. You can set it for a particular application or use it from the Quick Settings tile.

OnePlus 6 review: notch and gesture navigation

In today's time, the notch has become an indispensable feature. In OnePlus 6, you are also given the facility to turn off the notch, but the point of view is how effective it feels when turning off.

When the notch is 'on', the strip always changes to the color of the application, but when you turn the notch off, it always remains a black colored strip that feels a bit different but you can see the icon in the status bar. More space is available for

At first, we had to think whether we like the phone with the notch or without the notch, at the end of which we decided to turn off the notch. After turning off the notch, we get a similar bezel on both the top and bottom, which looks good.

The navigation gestures are a bit different because they give you more space on the screen and make it easier to work. The gestures provided in OnePlus 6 are very fast and very useful for moving from one app to another.

We think the navigation gestures are right and will prove to be very useful in the future, but personally, I think that for now, the gestures are not that much better. Some people would like me to say that gestures are a very attractive feature, but I would expect OnePlus to make them better and present again.

Things have become a bit strange on the top because the battery percentage indicator has been removed in the device.
If you turn off the notch, you get a uniform black color strip that looks a bit natural.
The left side of the strip is placed for the time and app icons where 3 to 4 app icons can be conveniently placed.

At the same place, the right side is given for Wifi, Bluetooth, etc. The UI given on the phone is quite sensible which puts your favorite icon forward. For example, if your phone is on silent then it will show a silent icon instead of the VoLTE label.

The navigation gesture is quite comfortable but we would prefer navigation buttons for now.
If you turn on both gesture and notch, then OnePlus 6 seems quite big but it does not look attractive, so we would suggest turning off both features.

OnePlus 6 review: Performance and software

OnePlus does not always give any kind of explanation in terms of performance which proves to be its biggest feature.

The performance performed by OnePlus 6 truly maintains its flagship status. By the way, many of you will be satisfied with the slightly reduced specification received at a low price, but the flagship-grade specification gets a different experience.

If you start using OnePlus 6, then in just 2 to 3 days you will start liking this device. Those who already use OnePlus phones will also feel this device very strong and they will be very happy with the performance of the phone.

Oneplus 6 price in India

Oxygen OS remains one of our favorite custom skin so far. OnePlus has also given some other features here, whether it is small or big but you will like the new features given on the phone.

OnePlus 6 is very fast. We can say that it is the fastest smartphone in India so far and will probably remain the fastest for some time.
Apart from the Snapdragon 845 chipset, OnePlus 6 has quite an attractive RAM and storage options.
Oxygen OS remains our favorite custom skin. It is light, simple but quite attractive.

In OnePlus 6 you can stream HD content through Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc.
The fingerprint sensor and face unlock is quite fast. During our testing, nothing slows it down, and it remains quite fast.
This device supports Dual SIM Dual VoLTE and its call quality is also very good.

OnePlus 6 review: camera

The camera of OnePlus 6 is capable of giving very good output and is clearly better than OnePlus 5T and other smartphones available for Rs 40,000. We can not call the phone the best because this year the Galaxy S8 and Pixel 2 phones are also much better which are available in this budget only.

Here Samsung will not compare with Galaxy S9 or iPhone X or P20 Pro as not all of them compete in this price segment, then this comparison will not be correct.

With OnePlus 6, you get slightly bigger pixels and OIS which makes low-light photography even better. This simply means that in OnePlus you will not need any kind of software so that low-light performance has to be improved. As a result, the 20MP sensor will be used to further improve focus and for portrait mode only.

Portrait mode is quite good according to this segment but lags a bit compared to flagship phones. The performance of the selfie camera and the Viao recording output is also quite satisfactory.

The image taken in the outdoor looks quite good. Photos are taken indoor also look much better but if you compare them with flagship phones, it will be better. The camera of the phone is much better, but we also cannot forget that there are options with even better camera output.

The image taken in the outdoor is quite attractive.
The image taken from the pass is also very good and is obtained with good details.
Low-light performance is also great. When compared to 5T, you will see this clearly better.
The software sometimes provides over-saturated output in low-light shots.

Portrait mode works best outdoors.
The selfie camera is also quite satisfactory but the indoor output sometimes gives a slightly noisy output.
Slow-mo videos can also be made quite well.

OnePlus 6 Review: Battery and Audio

The 3300mAh battery provides us with about 6 hours of on-screen time. By using more, 15 to 20 percent battery is left by night. The dash charger provided with the phone charges the battery fairly quickly.

The audio quality is quite good but the change did not feel as good as the 5T upgrade. In today's time, we like stereo speakers more.

The large battery and dash charging given in the phone removes the worry of running out of the battery to a great extent.
The phone has also given you Battery Saver Mode which will prove to be very helpful in an emergency.
Mono loudspeaker is quite fast. The audio quality is also good but not very attractive. We were expecting a stereo speaker on the device.

OnePlus 6 review: is it a value for money device?

OnePlus 6 is one of the best options in its class. The biggest feature of the phone is its excellent performance and great software. The phone's camera may not be able to match the 2018 flagship phones, but it performs attractively according to its price.

Wireless charging, water resistance certification, and stereo speakers are not provided in the device, but for now, we can use the phone without these because the performance of the phone is very good.

The more time we spend with the phone, the more we like the phone. In the end, we will say that OnePlus 6 will give you a great experience.

The merits
  • Superb performance
  • Attractive battery backup
  • Premium Look and Feel
  • Good display quality
  • Dual SIM Dual VoLTE
Demerits
  • Absence of water-resistant certification
