The South Korea company has recently launched the M10, M20 and M30 under the M-series which are doing very well in the market and will do so even further. Right now MWC has also launched its latest flagship S10 series in 2019 and has also attracted attention by introducing Galaxy Fold. Along with this, today the launch of A50, A30 and A10 has introduced quite tough competition in online and offline market.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review: Design and Build Quality

You get a very good experience as soon as the Samsung Galaxy A50 comes out of the box. It feels good as soon as the phone is out of the box. With curved back panel and better build, this device feels good when held in hand. Nearly a full-view display appears on the front, just above it is a small notch, which Samsung has named the Infinity-U display.

Looking back, it reminds of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2. The Galaxy A50 has a back panel with glossy glass finish, which is actually made of polycarbonate material. Samsung has made quite a good move here, giving the back panel a slight curve like the edges, which gets a good grip when holding the device in hand.

The rail on the sides is also of polycarbonate, on which you also get the volume button and the power button on the right side. Both buttons give very good feedback on use. All ports and loudspeakers are found on the bottom edge. The SIM tray is placed on the left side.

Talking about build quality, we do not get any kind of flexibility even when the device is pressurized. Overall, the Galaxy A50 proves to be a fairly premium and robust device.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review: display and fingerprint sensor

If we talk about the display of Galaxy A50, then you get a much more attractive front panel here. The Infinity-U sAMOLED screen given in the phone looks very good. The resolution of the display makes FHD + and 19.5: 9 aspect ratio even more beautiful. The display can be said to be quite shiny and quite balanced. Due to the AMOLED display, you also get a better viewing angle with better black color here. There is no problem in using the device anywhere outdoor or indoor.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review

The Galaxy A50 also gives you an on-display fingerprint sensor. This is the first Samsung smartphone after the Galaxu S-series in which you get to see an on-display fingerprint sensor. It is also quite simple and comfortable to use.

Registering your fingerprint with the fingerprint sensor in the Galaxy A50 is a fairly easy process. It is not as fast as OnePlus 6T but is quite satisfactory.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review: performance

Samsung Galaxy A50 gets you an Exynos 9610 chipset. Samsung's own chip is based on 10nm FinFET process in which octa-cores are divided into 2 quad-core clusters. Where the Cortez-A73 core in a cluster is 2.3GHz click speed and in the other you get Cortez A53 core with 1.7Ghz clock speed. Mali G72MP3 GPU has been given with chipset which gives better graphics. We have used the device with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage of Galaxy A50 for this review.

In the form of software, the latest Android Pie based Samsung's OneUI custom skin has been given in the Galaxy A50. Samsung has designed this OneUI mainly keeping in mind its big screen smartphones. If you already use Samsung smartphone then you will definitely see an attractive change. This new user interface is quite easy to use with one hand and also offers new animation and new icons.

Samsung has also made available the 'Night Mode' feature, making its AMOLED panel more special here. In the device, you are given full screen gestures along with on-screen navigation buttons. Like the Galaxy S10, there is no Bixby button here, but if you like Bixby then you can use your power button to use it like Bixby Key. Samsung has provided the Lock Screen stories feature under the Galaxy M-series here.

In terms of performance, the Galaxy A50 is good in daily use with the Exynos 9610 chipset. In our Galaxy A50 unit (4GB RAM), there is a slight frame drop while playing PUBG. The game can be played comfortably with balance graphics and medium frame-rate.

If you compare the performance of Exynos 9610, it looks a step back from Snapdragon 660 but is quite satisfactory in use.

Talking about the other options available in this price segment, the Galaxy A50 has a very good RAM management optimization that easily keeps the application open in the background.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review: Camera Performance

The triple camera setup at the back of the Galaxy A50 is its main feature. Here Samsung has used a 25MP (f / 1.7 aperture) primary camera sensor with 5MP (f / 2.2 aperture) depth sensor and 8MP (f / 2.2 aperture) wide-angle sensor. At the front too, you have been given a 25MP f / 2.0 aperture selfie camera in U-shaped notch.

Talking about the camera performance of Galaxy A50, you get a very attractive output in daylight. In the Galaxy A50, similar to other Samsung phones, you get better exposure without making any changes from the shadow for better image.

Samsung has also given a wide-angle camera here, through which you can see more details in the frame. The image clicked from the wide-angle is not equal to the shortcode taken from the primary sensor, and there is some trouble on the edges.

Unlike other phones in the budget segment, Dedicated Night Mode is not provided here. The camera of the Galaxy A50 takes an average photo in low-light but the output on the big screen does not look much better.

There is a 25MP front camera for selfie, in which good details are found in the right lighting. In the selfie camera, you also get the option of live focus, which you can also adjust later.

Samsung Galaxy A50 Review: Conclusion

The Galaxy A50 is offered here as a better option in the mid-range. In the phone, you have been given almost all the features according to today's trend. The 4000mAh large battery with attractive design, great AMOLED display, One UI software, triple camera setup and fast charging support make it one of the most popular smartphones. The device continues to perform well so far in daily use.

The Galaxy A50 mainly competes with the Poco F1 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, in which you get slightly better performance. So if you do not do much gaming then Galaxy A50 proves to be the ideal smartphone for you.
