VIVO S1 PRO FIRST IMPRESSION | PRICE AND SPECIFICATION
Vivo S1 Pro is the first smartphone of 2020 this year i.e. launched in India. Vivo's S-series has been introduced in the offline market mainly keeping in mind the style design of the phone. Last year, Vivo S1 was also introduced in the market, which gave a very good performance in the market.
Vivo S1 Pro
This year, the company has changed its strategy to now make two different categories offline and online or just online exclusive series Z-series or U-series, now available on both platforms.
So what does the company think about introducing the S1 Pro in the market? According to us, this is an offline phone which focuses heavily on design, due to which the company can also put forward the online option with it.

Vivo S1 Pro review: design and build
Personally speaking, you like the design only after taking the device in hand for the first time. The diamond-shaped rear camera setup at the back is the biggest feature of the design of this phone and the red color of the power button makes it even more attractive. The phone looks good compared to other phones in its price segment.
design and build
In India, S1 Pro has been introduced with Mystic Black, Jazzy Blue, and Dreamy White color options.
The U-shape notch on the display and the glass-back and side-edge curves at the back look very good. The camera setup is slightly raised but it becomes the same with the cover provided in the box. Vivo is not using real glass or real metal in the design but the finish seems to be very premium. The S1 Pro is quite comfortable to use. Despite the large battery of 4,500mAh, it does not feel heavy.
In the phone, you are given a USB Type-C port and the audio jack is given as above. The phone has a micro SD card slot, but it is not a triple-slot, so you can use either a dual SIM or a SIM an external card.
In S1 Pro you also get an in-display fingerprint sensor which is quite fast and reliable. You can change the animation of both faces unlock and a fingerprint sensor as per your choice.
Vivo S1 Pro review: display
The AMOLED display has been used in the S1 Pro and it looks better when compared to the recently introduced Realme X2 in this price segment.
display
The default calibration of the display is quite good and options are also given for color customization under the display settings. Vivo has also given system-wide dark mode and Always On mode in the settings, which you can use to your liking.
Protection of Schott Xensation 3D Glass is given on the display as well as a screen protector. You can use the phone comfortably outdoor also.
DRM L1 certification is available in S1 Pro, then there is no problem in HD streaming from Netflix and Prime Videos.
Vivo S1 Pro Review: Performance and software
If you talk about performance, then you will definitely see a deficiency here. The Snapdragon 665 octa-core chipset has been used in Vivo S1 Pro. If we look at the price, then brands like Realme and Xiaomi are offering a very good chipset at this price, so here the phone seems to be quite behind.
performance
8GB RAM and 128GB storage options are provided with the chipset. There is no problem with daily use of the phone. You can play high-end games like PUBG on the phone, but the experience is not so good. Looking at the price, there is also an Ultra Game Mode in which options like Turbo boost and Voice Changer have been given.
If you like gaming more then Snapdragon 700-series option you will like it more. But if you do gaming occasionally, then performance can be said to be correct.
Funtouch OS Vivo phones can be called another shortcoming. A lot of features have been given in the form of custom-features, but still, you will definitely feel something lacking. This custom skin is based on Android 9.
When using the phone, we do not have any problem with connectivity or call quality.
Vivo S1 Pro Review: Camera
The 48MP Samsung GM1 sensor has been used as a primary sensor, which is slightly less than the Samsung GM2, Samsung GW1 (64MP), and Sony IMX586 available in the quad-camera setup introduced in recent times. The quad-camera setup consists of an 8MP wide-angle sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor.
Camera
The camera application is very easy to use and the options are also given to you separately.
The 48MP primary sensor is capable of producing very good image output with good lighting in the indoor. The dynamic range is also quite good.
But there is a drop in camera performance in low-light. Vivo is also working on Super Night Mode for the phone, which will be given in the coming time via OTA update.
The wide-angle camera gives you 108-degree wide-view images. The quality of the output can be said to be satisfactory, only you need very good lighting.
The macro camera also captures good images, which have recently been seen in this price segment.
The 32MP selfie camera also gives you good output.
Overall, the camera performance of Vivo S1 Pro can be said to be better than average. It is not very good but is capable of giving a good output in proper-lighting.
Vivo S1 Pro Review: Battery & Audio
A large 4500mAh battery is provided with 18W dual-engine fast charging support. The phone is capable of giving you 1-day backup easily. The audio output of the phone is good with loudspeaker but it does not support the latest wireless code like AptX due to which wireless audio quality can also be called average.
Vivo S1 Pro Review: Verdict / Conclusion
Vivo S1 Pro looks a good smartphone with its price and specification combination but there are some drawbacks also. On seeing the chipset, this device can also be offered at a slightly lower price.Online brands Realme and Xiaomi push the offline brand slightly behind with its affordable price. Last year, we have seen the ability in the offline market, due to which the company will not launch exclusive devices online from 2020 onwards, keeping its offline partners at the same level, but you can buy the product on both platforms at the same price.
The S1 Pro offers good design, AMOLED display calibration, long battery backup. But if we see a shortfall, then chipset and camera performance are not satisfied according to the price as other options do with this price.
Vivo S1 Pro can prove to be a good option for those users who prefer to buy their phone only from the offline stores.
The merits
- Attractive design
- More RAM and storage
- AMOLED display
- Fast and accurate unlock system
- Chipset
- Hybrid card slot
- Camera performance
