Asus VivoBook S14 S431F-EB511T Review: Design and Display
Talking about the design, Asus has given a lot of attention to the design of the laptop and has given priority to every detail. It looks quite good even when kept in a back-pack. The design of the laptop is also designed so that it is very comfortable to use. In use, its hinge sometimes feels a little shaken, which may be a problem for the future. But the body-build of the device feels quite strong.
Design and Display
Unlike the Zenbook 14, you get to see the Met Sliver finish on it, so there is no problem of any marking here. As you raise the lead, you almost get to see the display without a bezel. This FHD LED display is 14-inch which provides 86% screen-to-body ratio with 16: 9 aspect ratio.
But the opinion is completely different for audio output. The audio system of Harman Kardon has been given at the bottom which I do not like because it reduces the audio output and also does not enjoy watching multi-media content. For this, you may always have to use software like VLC or DFC Audio.
In VivoBook S14, you have been given the traditional Ergolift hinge of the brand which gives 145 degree elevation to the laptop. Due to this angle, it proves to be very comfortable in typing as well as you do not have any problem even when placing hands under the keyboard.
As far as typing is concerned, the keyboard appears in the same color backlight, which proves to be very helpful in working late night. Its touchpad also looks much better.
Just above the display is a 3D IR camera with Window Hello support. It quickly recognizes the face and unlocks the laptop, which I personally love.
Asus VivoBook S14 S431F-EB511T Review: performance and software
You do not take the laptop just because of the feature that can be kept with it, you also need a good performance device here. Asus VivoBook S14 has an Intel Core 8th i5 processor with a clock speed of 1.6GHz. Also with the Turbo Boost technology it can achieve clock speeds up to 3.9Ghz. In the system, you are given 6MP cache with 8GB LPDDR3 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD storage option.
Asus VivoBook S14 S431F-EB511T Review: Battery and Connectivity
On the left side of the laptop, you are given a DCIN charging port, an HDMI port, a USB 3.1 port, a USB Type-C 3.1 port and a charging indicator. On the left side you are given a USB 2.0 port, an audio combo jack, a micro SD card slot. As an option of wireless connectivity, it also has support for Bluetooth 4.2 and dual-band Wi-Fi 5.
Connectivity
The VivoBook S14 has a 47Wh 2-cell lithium polymer battery which is capable of providing a battery backup of 4.5 hours. Being a portable and light weight, you can move around with it easily as long as you have no problem in keeping the charging cable together. With the help of the 45W power adapter provided, it easily charges up to 60% in 1 hour.
Asus VivoBook S14 S431F-EB511T Review: Conclusion / Verdict
According to what was told about the laptop, you must have guessed what the conclusion will be at the end of the review. Asus has introduced a fairly good option in the market. The design of the Vivobook is quite good. Along with the design, its performance is also very good. This is mainly a productivity machine, so you can see any other option just for gaming. The problem I have found here is its average battery life because you have to carry the charging cable along with it. But if you have no problem with this, then it is available for sale on Amazon India and Tata CliQ.The merits
- Sleek and simple design
- Comfortable typing
- Performance
- battery life
- audio output
- Hinge
