VIVO U20 MOBILE BEST REVIEW | SPECIFICATION

Last year, Vivo is working towards an offline brand to a large extent, for which there was a lot of marketing, but brands like Xiaomi and Realme continued to strengthen their hold in the online market. From the beginning of this year i.e. 2019, Vivo has launched phones like Vivo Z1 Pro and Vivo Z1 to further improve its performance in the Indian market under a different strategy.

Vivo has previously performed better in the affordable price segment of its U-series as U10. According to IDC, Vivo has shown a growth of around 5% in the last quarter, which is a very good thing.

The company has now come back to compete with Xiaomi's Note 8 and Realme 5s with its U20. In the phone, you have been given features such as FHD + display, large battery, fast charging, powerful chipset, UFS 2.1 storage, and triple camera with LPDDR4x RAM at a price of just Rs 10,990. So will this device prove to be the best in this segment? Let's know the answer to this question in the detailed review of Vivo U20:

Vivo U20 review: Price and Availability

The phone has been introduced in India in two models. The phone's 4GB / 64GB variant has been priced at Rs 10,990 while the 6GB / 64GB variant has been launched with a price of Rs 11,990.

Vivo U20 review: design and build quality

If we talk about the design of the device, then the Vivo U20 gets better design than the U10. The polycarbonate material has been used for the glass finish back but the edges are slightly curved which gives you better gripping. Rear camera placement, fingerprint sensors are given a good place on the phone, which can be used easily.

Like other phones, the Vivo U20 has a gradient back given the latest trend. Vivo U20's Blaze Blue Variant shines differently on different angle lights. The phone's black variant has also been introduced, which looks perfect for the user who likes a simple look.

Looking at the front, you are given a big screen with a notch display, which cannot be said much about it. Buttons are given on the right side which gives good feedback. On testing, there is no flex in the body, with which we can say that the structure is very strong.

Vivo U20 review: display

This time the company has used a slightly larger 6.5-inch display than the U10 on the phone. The display panel is still available with the IPS LCD, which can be called quite right with this price. The resolution of the screen is kept at 19.5: 9 with FHD + (1080 × 2340 pixels) aspect ratio.

The U20's display looks good compared to Xiaomi Mi A3 and Realme 5s. The color is also good with all the details appearing better on the display. The phone can also be used outside as the display can be read easily even in the sun.

Vivo U20 review: performance and software

Let's talk about performance, so in Vivo U20, the company has used Snapdragon 675 chipset with Adreno 612GPU. Although the SD675 chipset has been seen in the market for a long time, if you see the performance of the phones in which it is used, then the record looks quite good. Compared to Snapdragon 665, there is a lot of good gaming here. For better performance with this, it has used UFS 2.1 storage and LPDDR4x RAM.

On U20 you can easily complete all the daily tasks like gaming, browsing, multi-tasking, without any hassle. Users who like gaming can use this device comfortably to play PUBG in this budget. This game can be played at HD graphics and a high frame rate, which is good for devices under 12,000 rupees.

The first thing for FunTouch OS software is that it still needs a lot of improvement. Personally, the biggest problem with this is its quick setting. If you are using gestures on the phone then it gives more trouble. It is believed that a lot of features are available in it, but in the case of user experience, much change is still needed.

You also get DRM L1 certification on the phone with which you can easily stream HD content from Prime Videos and Netflix. The fingerprint sensor and face unlock are also very fast and accurate, and there is no problem in using them.

Vivo U20 review: camera

As far as camera performance is concerned, the 16MP primary camera sensor has been given in the rear camera setup. In this triple camera setup, you are also given an 8MP ultra-wide lens and a 2MP macro lens. Only slightly better camera app given in Vivo V17 Pro has been used in Vivo U20.

The rear camera sensor is capable of capturing very good images in daylight. In the sample image taken by us in the test, you get to see better colors and details. Yet sometimes an image seems a little under-exposed.

The 5MP ultra-wide sensor will not be able to match the primary sensor in terms of details and sharpness, but still, it is seen giving good output in daylight. Apart from this, the 2MP macro lens is similar to the macro lens found in other phones and there is nothing special to say about it.

Although the selfie is well captured in daylight, in low light, there is little detail. Night mode is also given here but the result is not as special as we expected.

Vivo U20 Review: Battery

The large 5,000mAh battery is clearly used only to give you a long battery backup. After a whole day of social media surfing, music streaming, PUBG mobile and web surfing in private, you get a comfortable one-day backup.

Apart from the big battery, the phone also supports 18W fast charging, which is not seen much in this price segment. If the USB Type-C port was given here, it would have proved to be a very good move but it is not a big drawback in terms of price.

Vivo U20 Review: Verdict / Conclusion

This new device of Vivo is a better upgrade than Vivo U20, U10, and gives a good performance. With the Snapdragon 675 chipset, you have good RAM and better storage options making the U20 an even better device. Bigger battery and sharp FHD + display are some other features of this phone that help keep it at the forefront of the Rs 12,000 segment.

The Vivo U20 clearly outshines the Note 8 and Realme 5s in terms of specification. Clearly, specification in this price segment matters a lot.
