REALME 5s MOBILE REVIEW AND SPECIFICATION
Realme launched its first device in the Indian market 18 months ago and after that, the company has joined India's top 4 smartphone brands today. Till last month, the company has launched 9 smartphones in which Realme X2 Pro, the company's first flagship device and Realme 5s launched an affordably priced device.
Realme 5s
Of these two newly launched devices, here we will talk about the upgraded version of Realme 5, Realme 5s. Both phones are available for sale on the online platform, in which Realme 5s gives you better performance with a better camera.
The initial price of the phone has been kept at 9,999 with which it competes with Redmi Note 8. So, how was the experience of the device after 1 week of testing? See in the detailed review of Realme 5s:

Realme 5s review: design and build quality
The company, while not paying much attention to the design of this phone, has introduced it with a diamond-cut design like Realme 5. The back has a slightly shiny polycarbonate back panel. The phone has been introduced in Crystal Blue, Crystal Purple, and Crystal Red color options. The camera setup is given on the back left upper edge which is quite raised but it becomes the same with the TPU cover provided in the box. The fast and reliable fingerprint sensor has been given the right place on the phone.
On the front side, you are given a display with the protection of Gorilla-Glass 3. The selfie camera has been placed in the notch above the display, due to which the screen-to-body ratio of the device reaches 89%.
Although there is no official IP rating here, according to Realme all the ports of the device are sealed for water and dust resistance.
Like other phones launched in the last few months, Realme 5s is a bit heavier but according to the 5000mAh battery, it can also be called lighter. Apart from this, the rear 3D curve design helps in a better grip.
If you talk about the deficiency, instead of the bottom-side regular micro-USB port, a Type-C port can also be given, because now it has become a common feature.
Realme 5s Mobile: display
Compared to Realme 5, in the display of 5s, you have not been given any special difference like the design. The company has used a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen here. Here we were expecting an FHD resolution in the display, seeing Xiaomi and Vivo, but the company stayed on HD +.Color and contrast are also quite common. The display of the phone does not appear to lean towards the blue color tone that is commonly seen in affordable price phones. Even after this, the company has given the option of color adjustment in the settings menu.
On the phone, you have not been given DRM L1 certification in Realme 5s.
Realme 5s review: performance
Talking about the performance, there is not much difference in the 5s, here also the Snapdragon 665 chipset has been used. It also has an option of 4GB for RAM, which is good for long usage. The Snapdragon 665 chipset can be said to be good for this price segment. The phone performs well on almost all the tasks for daily use, which remains the same even in long usage.
You can also do gaming on the phone. Like other SD665 phones, PUBG can be played on balance and medium settings.
The device runs on Android 9 based Color OS software. Dark mode, blue-light filter, game mode, and other customization options are provided here. There is a lot of pre-installed application on the phone, due to which the experience does not give a premium feel, but with the upcoming Color OS 7, this problem is going to go away.
Realme 5s review: camera
If we talk about the USP of the device, then it is its camera performance. This would clearly be called a better upgrade than Realme 5. At the rear, you have used the 48MP Samsung GW1 sensor under the quad-camera setup. Other camera sensors include 8MP wide-angle sensor, 2MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. Like other 48MP camera phones, you also get a 12MP image output with pixel binning tech. All the shots we took from the camera setup are all balanced in good lighting and with good details.
In HDR, there is little detail on the high-light area.
By default, the chroma-boost option is turned on in the app, which makes the image look slightly over-saturated. So for the users who like such an image, it can be said to be almost perfect.
With 8MP ultra-wide lens, you can capture a larger area but there is slight distortion at the edges of the image.
Realme 5s review: battery
You have been given a large 5,000mAh battery in the phone, but personally, I do not like the 10W charger in the box because it takes a lot of time to charge the battery. Once fully charged, the phone easily gives you a backup of more than 1 day. Supporting fast charging in the phone would prove to be a good move.Realme 5s review: verdict
The main objective of the company's launch of Realme 5s is to keep the Realme 5 series in use for a long time. The phone has good features but it cannot be called an upgrade. It is much better to present the phone at less than 10,000 rupees, due to which one of the two shortcomings of the device can be easily ignored. With Realme 5s, the company is directly competing with Redmi Note 8, but its real competition is with Vivo U20.
The handset has a good camera setup, a big battery, and a good chipset. If you also like these three things, then you will like this phone compared to Note 8 or Vivo U20.
The merits
- Nice design
- Long battery backup
- Slightly better camera
- Nice chipset
- No fast charging support
- HD + display
- A lot of pre-installed applications
