Realme 5 Pro Review: What is found in the box?

Realme 5 Pro comes with a normal retail box with a quad-camera. In its box you get:
  • Handset
  • TPU case
  • Sim-agent tool
  • Paperwork
  • 20W VOOC Charger
  • USB-C cable

Realme 5 Pro review: design and build quality

As you can also see in the image, our crystal green color review unit looks very much like Vivo Z1 Pro. In the device, you have a back-panel of "holographic gradient back" which looks quite good. A diamond design pattern is found on the rear panel, which is given for the first time in any phone of Realme. Realme has stated that this detailed pattern has been achieved after a fairly complex process.

The phone is made of polycarbonate with a glass-finish. The rear panel is quite smooth and the curved edges give it a better grip. Personally speaking, it does not give as much premium feel as Realme X but does not give cheap feel either.

The side rails are made of plastic, with a sim-tray slot and volume buttons on the left and power buttons on the right. All buttons give good feedback. Unlike the Realme X, here it has a selfie camera inside the mini-drop notch while not giving a pop-up camera. On the front, there is a little chin on the bottom with a fairly thin bezel on three sides of the display.

The quad-camera setup is given in the rear vertical direction. The rear setup is a little raised but it gets flat using the cover provided in the box. Apart from the rear camera, if you have been given a fingerprint sensor at the back, then it is quite fast and accurate. On the bottom edge of the device, you have an audio jack, speaker grill, and Type-C port.

The built quality of the device is much better. The device feels very strong when held in hand. On the display, you get Gorilla Glass 3 protection and it is also splash-resistant.

Realme 5 Pro review: display

In Realme 5 Pro, you have a 6.3-inch FHD + screen (19: 9). Realme claims a 90% screen-to-body ratio here. According to the company, the notch on display is 30% smaller than the standard notch.

The IPS LCD panel may not match the AMOLED display given in Realme X, but at this price, it seems correct. The display is quite sharp and vivid, in which you also get the option to change the color tone. Screen outdoor gives the brightness of up to 450nits which can be called average.

Realme 5 Pro review: performance

The performance of Realme 5 Pro is its performance. On the phone, you have been given Qualcomm's latest 700-series chipset Snapdragon 712. Realme has used this chipset in view of the criticism using the old chipset. In Realme 5 Pro, you have been given Snapdragon 712, which is a better clock speed version of Snapdragon 710, which gives a 10% performance boost.

Our review unit has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage support but in the market, it is also available with 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 64GB options. LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.1 storage given in the 5 Pro proves to be another good thing in this price range.

In our review test, the device offers much faster and better performance. All the tasks we have done on the phone are completed without any problem. Due to the high RAM, a lot of apps are active in the background, which gives a better multitasking experience.

Realme has claimed that Game Boost has been optimized for the top 100 games available on the Play Store. So how is the gaming experience of the device? Well, we played high-end like PUBG and Asphalt 9 on it and both games can be played without any frame-drop.

Realme 5 Pro Review: Software

Color OS has been given as a software improvement in Realme 5 Pro. As a feature, like any other custom screen, you get better features in Color OS. It has user-friendly features like Game Assist, Game Space, Smart Driving Modes, Clone Apps. DRM L1 certificate is also given here, so you can easily stream HD content from Netflix and Prime Videos.

Apart from offering a lot of pre-installed applications in the software, Oppo has tried to adopt everything from iOS in their OS whether it is good or bad. They do not give much importance to software to the user, for them, Color OS will give some special problems.

But according to reports, Realme is working on its own software which can be seen in the market by the end of this year.

Realme 5 Pro Review: Camera Performance

Realme camera performance seems to be growing significantly. For the first time in Realme 5 Pro, the company has given a quad-camera setup, in which the 48MP primary sensor is used. Along with the primary camera, it has an 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera, and 2MP portrait sensor. The front has a 16MP selfie camera.

The 48MP primary sensor with f / 1.8 aperture and pixel binning technology gives you a sharp and vivid 12MP image output. Users who want to use 48MP can click the photo at full resolution in Dedicated Ultra 48MP mode.
Realme 5 Pro Camera

Looking at the shorts clicked from Realme 5 Pro, it is clear that the output shows better color with very good details. The camera result seems to be leaning towards a slightly warmer tone as well.

In low-light, very little noise is seen in the image taken from Realme X. Along with this, the Nightscape mode enhances the dark scene nicely.

Realme 5 Pro works quite well even in portrait mode. Algorithms detect the edge of the subject in a much better way but sometimes due to the small details, it does not focus properly but it is common for this price segment.

The 5 Pro offers decent performance for the selfie, but the details are a bit less due to being mostly dependent on the AI feature.

Realme 5 Pro Review: Battery

The phone has a large 4,035mAh battery, which is capable of giving 1-day battery backup easily. Realme has given a 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charger in the box which makes the phone full-charge in around an hour. Simply put, the battery performance of the device can be said to be quite powerful at this price.

Realme 5 Pro Review: Conclusion

According to its price, Realme 5 Pros can be said to be a very powerful device. For now, Realme 5 Pro is the most affordable smartphone with Snapdragon 712 chipset. This chipset performs quite well for the user who likes gaming. The 48MP Sony IMX586 quad-camera can capture images in almost every condition and along with all these fast charging support makes it even better.

If seen clearly, Realme 5 Pro proves to be one of the best devices in the budget segment. Apart from this, if you can spend a little extra, then you can also buy Realme X with the premium design and AMOLED display.
