NOKIA 7 PLUS REVIEW
HMD Global recently launched its Nokia 7 Plus which was introduced as a high-middle class smartphone. OnePlus has become a very popular brand in the price category in which this phone has been introduced.
Nokia 7 Plus
Nokia 7 Plus has given attractive features on the phone by adopting a much better strategy here which makes the phone a good choice. It gets Snapdragon 660, Google's stock-Android, beautiful 18: 9 display, a camera with Zeiss optics, and Nokia's super robust design that is capable of keeping a phone popular.
But despite the phone being much better on the specification sheet, we have brought a review of Nokia 7 Plus to know whether practical experience does justice to its price or not. So let's take a look at its merits and drawbacks:
Nokia 7 Plus Review: Price
You can buy Nokia 7 Plus in India in white and black color options, which has been priced at Rs 25,999.Nokia 7 Plus review: Design and build
- Weight and measurement:158.4 x 75.6 x 8 mm; 183 grams
- Full metal body, 77% screen-to-body ratio
The back of the phone does not look as ceramic as Nokia claims, giving it a matte-finish plastic feel. It seems a bit blurred at the back but it is not a problem if you use the case.
On the front side, you are given a screen with a slightly thicker bezel of 18: 9 ratio, which gives a very satisfying feel. Nokia 7 Plus is a big phone but it can be taken well in hand.
The Nokia 7 Plus is definitely a beautiful phone with a unique design with unique paint in the back made of metal. Apart from this, the copper given in the phone enhances its beauty even more.
The phone has thick bezels at the top and bottom, but you will find it quite attractive. Nokia 7 Plus is a big and heavy phone, but it fits you well in the hand and it also remains easy to run.

Those who have a small hand will have slight difficulty in using the fingerprint sensor which can be ignored. The headphone jack is given upwards. We had to put a little bit of emphasis on inserting the headphone pin into the jack, but after a few days this problem will be over, nothing can be said about it. At the bottom, you are given a speaker grill and a Type-C charging port.
Nokia 7 Plus review: display
- 6-inch FHD + (18: 9), IPS LCD
- Gorilla Glass 3
The 18: 9 FHD + display panel is quite sharp and lively, the brightness is also quite good.
The phone's display feels a bit blue-ish but overall the display is quite good (not too attractive).
If you do not like Notch anything special then this would be a good option because Notch is not given on the phone. The software is optimized quite well for the 18: 9 ratio screen. Youtube here supports 'Zoom to Fill' which makes full use of the full screen.
Nokia 7 Plus review: camera
- Rear Camera: 12 MP (f / 1.8, 1.4µm) + 13 MP (f / 2.6, 1.0µm), Zeiss optics
- 2X optical zoom, portrait mode 4K video (rear)
- Front Camera: 16 MP (f / 2.0, 1.0µm), Zeiss optics
The Nokia 7 Plus camera is quite good with these specifications. But it is best for just this price. Overall, this camera will not disappoint you but do not expect it to have as much output as a flagship phone. The selfie camera gives quite satisfactory output but the output can be even better in low-light.
The camera application of the Nokia 7 Plus is not as good as it should have been but it is quite satisfactory and gives a better output. Here you also have the facility of live-stream video on Facebook and YouTube.
The camera provides good image output in daylight but the dynamic range may be slightly smaller. In terms of price, the camera is satisfactory but it is also not right to expect much.
Portrait mode gives significantly better performance in in-door, out-door. Depending on the slider position, you will get a 'very close' signal until you find the right balance. You also get the facility to adjust blur-intensity after post-click here.
Bothie feature given in the phone allows you to use front and rear camera simultaneously. This feature depends on your own personal preference.
Low-light performance is good for the price. Overall, the rear camera of the phone gives you better output than Oppo F7 and Vivo V9.
The selfie camera is not better than Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 but you can also get very good output in optimized lighting.
Nokia 7 Plus review: Performance and software
- 2.2Ghz octa-core Snapdragon 660 (Kyro-260 cores)
- 4GB RAM, 64GB internal storage, 256GB micro SD card support (hybrid)
- Android 8.1 Oreo-based Android-One
Performance
The phone has Android One support, which means you will continue to get upgrades and security patches for the next few years. It currently runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and Android P upgrade will be given in due course.

Nokia 7 Plus is a smooth performing phone, we did not face any problem. In Nokia 7 Plus, you have been given DRM L1 certificate, which makes it the only mid-range phone that allows you to stream HD content from Amazon Prime and Netflix. The stock Android software is very smooth and performs well and with its promises to keep getting updates for the next few years.
The fingerprint sensor is not very fast but is reliable and satisfyingly fast. You can only use 4G service on one SIM at a time. Despite the dual-VoLTE support of the chipset, there is no dual SIM dual VoLTE facility. Call quality is also great.
Nokia 7 Plus review: battery and audio
- 3800mAh battery, fast-charging
- Mono speaker
Audio output in Nokia 7 Plus is quite clean and fast. The audio quality achieved by headphones is not perfect but much better than it should be in this price range.
The 3800mAh battery gives you a battery backup of more than 1 day. Standby time is also much longer. Fast charging is supported. The audio output is quite good for the price.
Nokia 7 Plus Review: Should You Buy It?
Nokia 7 Plus is not a perfect phone but it offers all the basic features according to its price. We can say that it is better than Oppo F7 and Vivo V9 but not as good as OnePlus 5T.The phone is very strong, with Android One which gives you the promise of a quick update, here you get a powerful chipset, increased battery and a good camera which offers attractive performance according to the price. The overall experience of the phone is premium and proves to be a great option for the price of 25 thousand. Some people here will call the phone expensive but in terms of performance, the price of the phone is favorable.
If you think about the option of Nokia 7 Plus, you will not get many options. But yes, you can wait for a bowl of OnePlus 5T after the launch of Xiaomi's upcoming Mi A2 (Android One) or OnePlus 6 here.
The merits
- Strong texture
- Superb performance
- Nice camera
- Android one
- HD content stream support
- Long battery backup
- Hybrid sim slot
- Thick bezel
