Poco X2 review: design and display
Looking at the last year, smartphones are getting bigger and heavier than before and Poco X2's 8.8mm thickness and 208 grams weight is the result of this. The phone has a glass back with a plastic side frame. The circular shape quad-camera setup is similar to the Mate 30 at the back. The camera is slightly raised, which is not even out from the cover provided. On the front side, you have the almost full-view display and dual punch-hole camera setup. You have been given dual punch holes in the phone which is a bit wide and does not look as good as we were expecting.
The phone's IPS LCD panel may not look like an AMOLED display but looking at the price, it can be said to be good. The color calibration of the display panel is good, the contrast is also correct and the screen also supports HDR10. You can also read the text on the display in the outdoor, but the brightness can be even better.
display
The biggest feature of the phone's display is that there is a support of the 120Hz refresh rate, so the display experience and animation look much better. By the way, this user will like it a lot, even if you do less gaming. But the 90Hz refresh rate does not feel much different.
The fingerprint sensor is given a power button on the side. The fingerprint sensor works quite well and is reliable as well. Your hand is easily reached on the fingerprint sensor. The phone has an option of Face Unlock which is quite fast.
At the bottom, you also have an audio jack with a Type-C port on the phone. The speaker grill is on the left side, which sounds a bit strange because when you use the landscape you block the grill, the audio is not heard clearly.
Poco X2 also has an IR blaster which is not available in Redmi K30.
Poco X2 Review: Performance and Software
We know that a lot of users were expecting Snapdragon 855 or Snapdragon 855+ chipset in the phone so that Realme X2 Pro can give a tough competition. But here the company made it clear at the launch itself that this is the first phone introduced under the X-series apart from the F-series, which has been introduced on the Snapdragon 730G. Along with this, better RAM and storage options have also been provided to you here.
Talking about daily use and gaming performance, this device will not disappoint you. Due to Android 10 based MIUI 11 add not many likes. But in this custom skin, you get much better features that give you different customization facilities.
Some pre-installed applications are also provided on the phone, as well as you get to see some additions in it as well. There is no problem in call quality or connectivity when used.
Poco X2 Review: Camera Performance
If talking about the phone's camera, then for the first time Sony IMX686 64MP primary camera sensor has been given in Poco X2. Along with this, at the rear, you are also given an 8MP wide-angle lens, 2MP depth sensor and 2MP macro camera sensor with the primary sensor.Sony sensor also works here only on the concept of the 64MP Samsung GW1 sensor. We have compared it to the 64MP camera given in Redmi Note 8 Pro and there is a lot of difference in the image processing of both phones, so it would be wrong to compete with each other.
Camera
Even after this, the Sony IMX686 sensor used in Poco shows the phone better in HDR images and outdoor output. In Redmi Note 8 Pro, you get good results in tricky lighting, but in the case of selfie camera, Poco X2 only stands ahead.
Poco X2 in day-light captures images very well and gives better details. Also, you can see a lot of natural colors in the image. Nothing special can be said about the phone's low-light and indoor lighting performance.
Wide-angle cameras clearly show edge-distortion. The rear macro camera sensor takes a short time to focus, due to which you cannot take perfect images at once.
Portrait camera also works quite well but sometimes you get the perfect image more than once.
Poco X2 does not normally provide better camera performance than Realme X2 or Note 8 Pro. But with this price, you cannot underestimate this performance.
Poco X2 Review: Battery & Audio
The battery backup is quite good here because you can easily use the phone for about 1 day even with a 120Hz display. Apart from backup, the charging speed of the phone is also very fast. 27W fast charger is given in the box itself, with the help of which the phone can be full charger in 1 hour. Although Realme X2 has 30W fast charging support, the charging speed of Poco X2 can also be called very fast.
27W fast charger
The audio output of the phone is averaged from the single speaker grill, but the grille has been given a slightly strange place because if you use the phone in landscape mode, you will block the grill which will also affect the audio output.
Poco X2 Review: Verdict
Poco, apart from Xiaomi, has introduced its first smartphone and like the Poco F1, it has also introduced better hardware and software combinations at a much cheaper price.
Poco X2 is going to be liked by users who like gaming because the price of the phone is its biggest feature. The performance of the phone is quite good, but at the price of fewer than 20 thousand rupees it would not be right to say its best because some things you get better in other phones with this price.
Overall, if you say, in Poco X2, you get to see a powerful chipset, latest Android version, big battery, and 64MP primary camera sensor. Apart from this, the reduction can be called the phone's size and weight and color options. But fans of Xiaomi or Poco brand will like this device very much.
The merits
- Strong performance
- Android 10 software
- Long battery backup
- 120Hz display refresh rate
- Punch hole notch
- Color option
- Weight and size
