Xiaomi India has launched its Redmi 6-series in India tomorrow. Under this series, Redmi 6, Redmi 6A and Redmi 6 Pro have been launched. The attractive aftermath is that the starting price of the series is Rs 5,999 and the maximum is kept at Rs 12,999.

One thing that is said for smartphones is that performance does not always matter. But both these new devices of Xiaomi have been introduced as Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A entry-level phones, whose specifications and price can be seen that both these smartphones will end the competition to a great extent.

But if we talk about Redmi 6 Pro, then the story is different. Looking at the price and specification of the device here, we cannot talk because there are some shortcomings in the phone but there are some features that make it quite attractive. So let's have a look at a quick review of Redmi 6 Pro and see how the first meeting with the device was:

Redmi 6 Pro / Mi A2 Lite Review: Design and Build

The Redmi 6 Pro is a compact phone with slightly curved edges that give a good grip when held in the hand and the weight of the device is also satisfactory. But nothing more can be said about design.

The phone has a standard plastic body in which you have a triple-layer back panel. The front has been given a big notch in size, which looks like the latest leaked render of Pixel 3 XL. You get to see enough bezel all around the display, which is a little surprising move because giving such a bezel reduces the attractiveness of the notch.

At the bottom, you are given a micro-USB Type-A port as well as a speaker grill. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back on the back panel, which works quite quickly and accurately. In the initial testing, you find the device quite strong and yes Xiaomi has given its traditional soft TPU back cover here.

Redmi 6 Pro / Mi A2 Lite review: display

The Redmi 6 Pro features an attractive 5.84-inch (19: 9) display with FHD + resolution notched display. In Redmi 6 Pro, you get a sharper display than Redmi 6 and Redmi 6A, which does justice to its slightly higher price. In this budget segment, this display offers a tough competition.

Talking about the quality, Xiaomi has given you the same display as other Xiaomi phones in this new device. The white-balance in the display looks a bit leaning towards the blue tone, but MIUI allows changes to it here as usual.

Keeping in mind the trends of today, Xiaomi has given a notch display here but you can hide the notch from the settings here but the status bar for the icon remains as much as the time of the notch.

A 2.5D glass layer has also been given on the display but nothing has been said about the Gorilla Glass Protection on the specification sheet. We hope that Xiaomi has used ion-strength glass here.

Redmi 6 Pro Review: Performance, Battery and Software

In Redmi 6 Pro, Xiaomi has introduced its favorite Snapdragon 625 chipset. SD625 can be said to be a satisfactory chipset for an affordable price smartphone, even if it is 1 year old, but it still remains in the market today.

But due to being outdated, some basic requirements will not be fulfilled here like Dual 4G VoLTE support which you also get to see in low-cost Redmi 6A and Redmi 6.

Those who are thinking of taking a device with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option will prefer Redmi Note 5 Pro over Redmi 6 Pro as Snapdragon 636 chipset has been given at a slightly higher price.

Performance is not a problem for basic and medium users. Speaking of battery, the SD 625 and 4000mAh battery gives you a very good battery backup but does not support fast charging.

Redmi 6 Pro has given you Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 custom skin and the company has promised that very soon you will also get an update of MIUI 10 in the device. Most users love MIUI custom skin.

But recently, the amount of pre-installed applications on Xiaomi phones has increased significantly (perhaps Xiaomi is trying to compensate for the profits on the hardware). We have also seen this problem associated with pre-installed applications in Poco F1.
