Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Box Content

Samsung has not provided earphones or case in the box, which seems a bit strange because, at this price, a protective case is available.
  • Handset
  • 15W Charging Adapter
  • USB-C cable for charging and data transfer
  • Sim agent tool
  • Paperwork

Samsung Galaxy M31 review: design and build

The Galaxy M31 design looks very similar to the Galaxy M30s. Despite its large 6,000mAh battery, its weight can be said to be light. Here plastic material has been used instead of glass and metal combination due to which the weight of the device is reduced. Protection of U-shape notch and Gorilla Glass 3 has been given on the front display.

On the phone, you also get basic but very important features like a dedicated card slot, USB Type-C port, and 3.5mm audio jack. The fingerprint sensor has got a place at the back which is quite fast. Glossy black back-panel will be liked by some users while others will find it strange.

Suppose the galaxy A-series looks good with a more premium design and Infinity-O display, but considering the price, the Galaxy M31 looks quite good. Overall, the phone gives you a good design that most users will like.

Samsung Galaxy M31 review: display

On the front, you have a good quality AMOLED display on the phone. In addition to an attractive dark mode, Always-on mode will also be seen due to this display. Natural and Vivid color profiles are given in the display settings. While the natural profile gives more color accuracy, there is a slightly bluish-white view in Vivid mode, but you can also change the white balance.

According to this price range, you get to see very good display quality here. As mentioned above, the protection of Gorilla Glass 3 has been given on the display. You are not given any scratch guard or screen protector on the phone.

Samsung Galaxy M31 review: performance and software

Talking about performance, the Galaxy M31 has a 10nm process based Exynos 9611 octa-core chipset. This chipset has also been seen in the Galaxy A50, Galaxy A50s, Galaxy A51, and Galaxy M30s before this. This chipset is slightly weaker than the Snapdragon 7-series, which is available in the "Gaming Phones" available at this price. But this will be a good option for users who do not do much gaming.

High-end games such as PUBG can be played but there is a slight performance drop in the maximum setting. Common games can be played well here. LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.1 storage have been used for the best performance in daily use. In Galaxy M31 you get 64GB and 128GB storage option with 6GB of RAM, in which we have 128GB Variation. With good RAM and storage, this device can also prove to be good in long use.

The M31 is available running on Android 10 based OneUI 2.0 software in the market. One UI seems to be the best compared to other custom skin and that is why it stands ahead of the Chinese brand. The Galaxy M31 has DRM L1 certification with which you can easily stream HD content on Netflix and Prime Video. The phone comes with support for the Dual SIM 4G VoLTE feature and we do not have any problem according to the connectivity.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Camera Performance

On the phone, you have been given 64MP Samsung GW1 primary sensor at the back. In this quad-camera setup, 5MP macro camera, 8MP wide-angle camera, and 5MP basic depth sensor are also provided. Talking about the front, the 32MP selfie sensor is available with the notch, which also supports 4K video recording and slow-fee.

The image clicked in daylight comes with a better dynamic range and good details. Looking at the price, the output can be said to be very good.

Macro cameras can click photos more closely, but the output you get is a bit soft which means the details are not very sharp.

Some users of wide-angle cameras do not use much, but the output in proper lighting is quite good.

Portrait mode is capable of capturing good images even in indoor.

The selfie camera also performs well, in which all is well until 4K recording, but in the case of Slow-Fee, it disappoints a lot.

Overall, camera performance is better than the average in good lighting. It could have proved better in indoor and low-light.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Battery & Audio

One of the biggest features of the phone is its large 6,000mAh battery which is capable of giving a backup of about 2 days. You have also been given a 15W fast charger in the box, but it will be called the only average in front of such a large battery. It takes around 2.30 hours to fully charge the phone. Slow charging speed is a drawback, but given the battery capacity, you can use it all day even at a 50% charge.

As far as audio output is concerned, there is nothing special to say here. Loud-speakers provide an output average, while headphones can be said to be better than the average due to Dolby Atmos' support.

Samsung Galaxy M31 Review: Verdict

Samsung changed its strategy from last year to introduce a very attractive affordable price smartphone range in the form of Galaxy M-series and the Galaxy M31 also proves to be able to retain the same popularity. The Galaxy M30s was one of the best smartphones of the year 2019 and its upgraded version i.e. the M31 also has the power to prove to be one of the best phones of the year 2020.
